John is a visionary and experienced leader with extensive operational knowledge and competence in the safeguarding/public protection field.
John is experienced in Chairing reviews of both homicide and suicide deaths, with individuals of different faiths, nationalities and languages, across a range of vulnerabilities including mental health, alcohol or drugs, disabilities, and vulnerable individuals, including children.
Since 2020 John has had Chair responsibility for a diverse range of reviews, bringing his inclusive, dynamic and inspirational leadership to bear as well as his clear strategic thinking.
He has completed the AAFDA DHR Chair training delivered by Mr Frank Mullane MBE.
He retired in 2020 from the Metropolitan Police in the rank of Detective Superintendent with strategic lead responsibility for domestic abuse, stalking and harassment. John was an active member of 3 Local Safeguarding Children Boards and 3 Safeguarding Adult Boards.
Malcolm is the Director of the Independent Chair Mentoring Programme.
