We offer a mentoring programme for new to role Chair/Author, guiding, supporting and quality assuring their delivery of Chair duties.
We have developed the mentoring programme with the vision of:
Supporting the availability of high-quality Chairs within the independent review Chair community, thus impacting positively upon the experience for families and the future safety of abuse victims.
Providing local authorities with the opportunity to commission a well-supported Chair, with the assurance that their work throughout the Review period is actively supervised to ensure high quality.
Providing local authorities and families with the assurance that the Chair can be backfilled by the mentor should the Chair experience a protracted period of absence.
The mentoring programme supports associates with:
Providing details of a business operating framework, including data management requirements.
Providing a framework for successful leadership of a review.
Compiling and submission of tenders for contracts for associates as Chair supported within the mentoring programme.
The selection interview process with the local authority, both the preparation for and attendance alongside.
Performance of the Chair role responsibilities, engagement with the local authority, HMC, SIO, the panel and with the family and others.
Regular 121 sessions to provide support to the associate and ensure a grasp of the detail of the review by both the associate and mentor.
Regular well-being engagement with the associate.
Quality assurance of the progression of the review.
Quality assurance of the authoring of the report.
The programme is successfully completed when:
The associate is assessed to be highly competent across the elements of the Chair’s role, and
The associate considers their CV enables them to independently apply for tenders
